Q: Do you need to pull the shelf up with your hand? If so, how much strength/ leverage do I need?

Yes, you need to pull shelf up with two hands and it lock will lock in place. When you want it to collapse u push release levers and support it back into cabinet. It is not difficult.

Q: If it is under a drawer, can it still raise to counter height?

No it cannot not unless you remove the drawer and reconstruct without it. I am returning my shelf for that reason.

Q: Does this include the shelf shown in the picture? Also, why is there no product description of this item?

Did not include the shelf part was only the brackets and I ended up returning

Q: Can this unit be installed below a drawer?

Yes I had my handyman install and it is under a drawer
