Book defective
This is one of my favorite series and while this is my least favorite installment of the series, I still had a really good time reading it. This book went to a much darker place than previous books have and it's always interesting to see how far these characters can be pushed. Shannon Messenger is a great writer and I look forward to seeing how the series continues to play out. That being said, the book that I received from Amazon is defective. I have read this installment before as a library book, as well as an e-book, and had no issues. The copy I received from Amazon, however, has a few errors. There is a page with text that has somehow been converted to dots and dashes, where I know text existed in the other versions. I am also missing page 662 in my copy, having two 666 instead. I'm not finished the book yet, so I'm not sure if other errors exist. It is a bit upsetting that I'm a slower reader and didn't notice these defects until after my return window had closed.I didn't want to lower my rating of the book, because my troubles aren't reflective of the content and I want to make it clear that I love the book.Update: I've now finished the book and there were several pages with big ink splotches in the text. Also, the final line of the book resembles the picture I've included previously. What happened with the printing of this book??

Book doesn't match
I got this, after having bought the other ones and liking them. When it showed up it didn't match the others. I mean the look of the book. It was also slightly taller and that really annoyed me. So, it doesnt look good on my shelf and that annoys me. Apart from that, there wasn't any printing issues like others have said and I liked the story.

For all of the Kotlc fans out there!

Great but plot? Also devil.
The media could not be loaded. This author is really talented but I'm just not sure what she was trying to do with this plot. There was a good 200-400 pages that basically consisted of the main character on bed rest. Somehow it was still entertaining to read but I wish it would have consisted of something less boring. Also my copy of the book was somehow missing page 662 and was replaced by 666. I can only assume that this was the work of the devil as it was during a very important conversation with the love interest of the main character and only a sinister being would take that away from me. Overall, a lot of important and interesting things happened in the latter part of this book and I recommend it.

it was not bad
This review is from the perspective of a ten year old:The book starts off pretty typical, lots of conversations and planning. She normally adds lots of plot twists in every chapter but not so much in this book. Therefore, it is quite boring and probably why the overall rating isn’t very high. But during the 400 page range, the book gets better with lots more fights and action. The BIG plot twists start at the 500 page range and you have to read all the way there to find the good part which is why I give it 4 stars. A drop in the review also could be from the very, VERY EVIL cliff hanger! I feel like you should get this book if you’re really patient and have read books 1-6 even though it won’t sound as good. And that's what I thought of Keeper of The Lost Cities Book 7: Flashback.

So, So Good!!
So yes, we all know that this series is getting really long already. FLASHBACK is the seventh book. Some people have decided to give up on Shannon Messenger and stop reading it altogether-- which they can choose to do quite easily, since these books are always released a year apart-- but I'm still waiting for Sophie's story. Even if it will have to take an eighth and a ninth installment (which the author did admit to certainty). But come on-- the elvin world is so rich and layered and multifaceted that I have no problem spending some time on reading about it. Yes, there were cliffhangers. Yes, there was an insufferably complicated love triangle-that-became-a-hexagon. Yes, there were so. Many. Unanswered. Questions. ... Actually, there still are. However. Reading this made me incomprehensibly ecstatic because the romance finally PROGRESSED. And I loved it so much! And also, even though about a third of the book is confined to the Healing Center at Foxfire (well, I mean, it wasn't bad seeing Elwin again), there was still plenty of progress made on the team. Except for the fact that DexBianaWylieLinhandMarella were seen very, very little. Although it's slightly forgivable because FitzandKeefeandTam were seen a little more. EVEN THOUGH YOU ALL KNOW I WANT MORE DEX. We learned some preeeetttyyyy surprising secrets too, in this book, and yes, the Vacker family plays a huge role in this book. The Vacker family and memory. Also, the Vacker family official portait by Laura Hollingsworth does make an honorable mention in one of the scenes! So, yeah. Waiting an entire year for an 848-page-long, eleven-dollar book was totally worth it in my opinion. And now... I'll play around while I wonder what next year's book will be...

Quality Perceptions
This book raises so many everyday issues that need serious consideration. Not just crushes and kisses, or parents and peers. Really look into the Ode to Darkness. Our human shadow side. Well done, Shannon, well done.

Not the best in the series but great!
As usual, the book was great but it was kinda boring considering the fact that a long part of the book took place in the healing centre at foxfire (just like sophie is, always getting in trouble!). The part from where sophie finally got out of the healing centre was much more interesting.. overall the book was very nice book not the best. The character of Fitz is amazing, but he definitely wasn't like his usual self in this book cuz he got WAY more angry than he usually does. even tho i am DEFINITELY on team foster-keefe, i loved the part where sophie finally confessed to fitz. Thanks!!(sorry for the spoiler lol)
